Trustonic and Carota Establish New Partnership to Provide "Next-Generation" Security Solutions for OEMs
UK-based cybersecurity company Trustonic has formed a new partnership with Carota, a provider of OTA (Over-the-Air) and remote diagnostic solutions, to offer dedicated "next-generation" solutions that enhance vehicle security for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Trustonic integrates world-leading trusted cybersecurity technology into smart devices and connected vehicles, enabling OEMs to establish a solid foundation for revenue assurance and driving innovation. Founded in 2018, Carota focuses on emerging opportunities driven by digital transformation in the automotive industry.
Challenges
In establishing this new partnership, Trustonic and Carota are working closely to develop groundbreaking security solutions that enable OEMs to quickly meet new safety standard requirements and effectively address the latest innovations in automotive technology. According to industry regulations, starting in 2024, OEMs must implement secure OTA solutions to enhance the overall safety of vehicles. Without proper security measures, OEMs will not be able to sell new cars in any large-scale market.
Andrew Till, General Manager of Trustonic, emphasized,
Connected vehicles are growing exponentially, with increasing amounts of software added to vehicle architectures. New industry regulations require that software remains up-to-date to maintain safety throughout the vehicle's lifecycle. This means that securely updating vehicle software has become a core requirement for all OEMs worldwide.
Through this new partnership with Carota, we will integrate our combined technological strengths to provide OEMs with secure OTA solutions that are easy to integrate and deliver deeper security for today's and future connected vehicles."
Paul Wu, CEO and Founder of Carota, said,
"We are excited to partner with Trustonic to provide our customers with secure and comprehensive OTA solutions. The irreversible trend of software-defined vehicles brings new opportunities but also tremendous security challenges.
OTA updates are critical to ensuring that vehicle software and firmware remain up-to-date. We believe that the joint efforts of Trustonic and Carota will provide the security and reliability essential for new energy vehicles and traditional automotive OEMs transitioning to smart vehicles. Carota's goal is to become a key provider of OTA and remote diagnostics software services for connected vehicles."
Trustonic's Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) technology, "Kinibi," achieved global EAL5+ certification in May 2022.
